Chapter 8: Getting started and keeping going
    Text: Matt 6:6
5 And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. Truly I tell you, they already have their full reward
6But when you pray, go into your inner room, shut your door, and pray to your Father, who is unseen. And your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
I will be sharing what I learned from the above text.
Prayer must be for God’s ear alone. It is enough that He hears. Hypocrites are not concerned about God they want to impress men. They may seem to be worshiping God, but are really worshiping themselves. Public prayer is good, but it has its dangers. It may sometimes be difficult to speak to God without trying to impress others who are listening. This may be one reason for Jesus’ emphasis on secret prayer. It will be more direct, more real, with no temptation to impress others.
    Thank you 🙏

    • Hypocritical prayers is one which is done to impress men …
Let guide our motive and pray in line with God’s word… Praying to impress men is just a prayer that will end without no rewards. 😭😭 Oh God help your children ..

    • We must pray to God in private and not openly like hypocrites. From what I understand, does it means there are certain prayers we do not do in public? For example If we are in church we have to control ourselves because it might distract and impress others ?

      • Thank you so much for the question sis let me attend, Matthew 6:5-6, where Jesus teaches his followers to pray in private, rather than publicly like the hypocrites. This passage is often interpreted as a warning against ostentatious or showy prayer, where the goal is to impress others rather than genuinely connect with God.

In this context, Jesus is not necessarily saying that all public prayer is wrong. Instead, he’s cautioning against praying loudly or elaborately to draw attention to oneself, rather than focusing on a sincere conversation with God.

In a church setting, it’s not necessarily about suppressing all emotional expression or passionate prayer. Rather, it’s about being mindful of your motivations and making sure your primary focus is on communicating with God, rather than seeking to impress or draw attention from others.

      • Here, praying with the right motive is very important. Praying to impress people is what the Bible is against. Focusing on God while praying is important…
Let us focused on sincere conversation with God and not to impressing men with empty tougues …
Jesus said in his word that you have already received your reward
When men praise you … Let us be watchful how we pray in public….
