I thank my God Who have been faithful to take me through this course. I pray that this knowledge will help foster His Kingdom here on earth.
In Chapter 21 title “The typological method”. It will be very hard to get a better understanding of the teaching or saying of the Bible if we base our studies on one Bible version only . And to get a better knowledge of typological study, I must first understand the meaning of a Bible type.
Example
In Hebrews 20:1 it speaks of the law having a shadow of good things to come. Shadow in one word describe a biblical type.
Romans 5:14. According to this verse, Adam was a figure of some one else who was to come . The meaning of figure is similar to that of type . Adam was a type of the Lord Jesus Christ who was to come later.
Also the offering of sacrifice for sin in the old testament was a type of the final sacrifice for sin which was to be offered by Jesus in the new testament.
A type is a person or thing I. The Bible which God use to represent some other person, thing or events to that would appear in the future. It is a shadow , a figure or a pattern what was to come.
So when studying this type, it is call typological study. We study a person, place , events or thing and then we study the thing which is a type.
Types are like prophecy. They give an advance view of what is to come in God’s future plan . Also like prophecy, some types have have been fulfilled. Others remain to be fulfilled.
The type is important in itself in the sense that, it has a greater significance in the future person or events which it represent. Types are physical pictures of spiritual realities.
